RTW Trips – Do’s and Don’ts for the Hitchhiker

When you’re planning a round-the-world (RTW) trip, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here are some do’s for the hitchhiker:

  1. Plan your route ahead of time. This will help you budget your time and money, and make sure you hit all the places you want to see.
  2. Research different transportation options – planes, trains, buses, boats – so that you can find the best way to get around each country.
  3. Pack light! You’ll be doing a lot of walking and traveling between different modes of transport, so it’s important to pack only what you need.
  4. Make sure your passport is up-to-date and that you have all the necessary visas for the countries on your itinerary.
  5. Get travel insurance in case of any unexpected emergencies or accidents while on your trip.

As a hitchhiker, there are some things you should avoid doing in order to make your travels easier and more pleasant. Here are five don’ts for the hitchhiker:

  1. Don’t stand on the side of the road with your thumb out for too long. If you haven’t been picked up after a half hour or so, move to a spot where there is more traffic. You’ll increase your chances of being seen by drivers this way.
  2. Don’t wear inappropriate clothing when hitchhiking – no short skirts or tank tops! Dress in clothes that will make you visible and that won’t embarrass you if someone sees you picking up rides from strangers.
  3. Don’t be picky about who offers you a ride – sometimes it’s better to take whatever ride is available instead of waiting for “the perfect one.”
  4. Don’t sit in the middle of the road when trying to hitch a ride – find somewhere off to the side where drivers can pull over easily without having to stop in traffic first.
  5. And finally, don’t forget to have fun while hitching rides! It can be an interesting experience getting around this way and it provides an opportunity meet new people.
